NPC expresses support for lifetime member Sen. Erwin Tulfo over ‘Maleta’ allegations

THE National Press Club expresses its support for its Lifetime Member, Senator Erwin Tulfo, in the face of allegations linking him to the reported “maleta” issue allegedly mentioned by certain military witnesses.
At this stage, these remain allegations that must be subjected to proper verification and due process. In keeping with the principles of fairness and responsible journalism, no individual should be judged solely on the basis of unproven claims, speculation, or public accusations.
As a longtime journalist and public servant, Senator Tulfo deserves the same presumption of innocence afforded to every citizen.
We encourage all concerned parties to present evidence through the appropriate legal and institutional processes rather than through trial by publicity.
This also apply to those mentioned during the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.
The National Press Club stands for truth, fairness, accountability, and the responsible pursuit of facts. We trust that the proper authorities will conduct a thorough, impartial, and evidence-based inquiry into the matter
