NLEX Corporation has been recognized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Region III for helping make real-time air quality information more accessible to the public.

The recognition was presented during the Environmental Summit 2026 held on Aug. 19 at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga, honoring NLEX’s partnership with the agency in disseminating Air Quality Index (AQI) data through an outdoor LED billboard along the North Luzon Expressway in San Fernando City.

Through the initiative, motorists and the public can view real-time air quality readings from four Regional Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations located in San Fernando, Meycauayan, Clark, and Zambales.

NLEX President and General Manager Luis S. Reñon thanked the DENR for the partnership, saying the initiative helps promote environmental awareness by making critical air quality information more visible to the public.

“Accountability starts with awareness, and by utilizing the LED billboard, we are making vital environmental data highly visible and accessible to everyone,” Reñon said.

The project is part of NLEX Corporation’s broader environmental sustainability and public awareness programs, including its “Road to Less Waste” campaign promoting proper waste disposal and recycling.

The company has also conducted tree-planting activities that have resulted in more than 200,000 trees being planted along the NLEX corridor. It continues to coordinate with government agencies and local government units on various environmental programs.

NLEX Corporation is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
