Former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson arrested over cyberlibel case

Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson was arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with a cyberlibel case.
Based on initial information, Singson was apprehended by personnel of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) inside a subdivision in Barangay Ugong Norte, Quezon City, by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the court.
Authorities have yet to disclose further details regarding the case, including the specific allegations and the complainant involved.
There is also no immediate information on whether Singson has posted bail or remains under police custody while the necessary legal procedures are being carried out.
As of this writing, officials are still awaiting an official statement from Singson or his camp regarding the incident.
