A National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) employee involved in a road rage incident with a Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) driver along EDSA in Quezon City was presented to the media on Monday, June 15.

The suspect was identified as Inspector Jaime Flores, who was assigned to the Inspection, Monitoring and Investigation Service (IMIS) of NAPOLCOM.

Flores, who has since been removed from his post, is facing a grave threats charge in connection with the incident.

During a press conference, NAPOLCOM Executive Officer and Vice Chairman Atty. Rafael Calinisan said that aside from the criminal case, Flores will also face administrative charges for allegedly violating the standards and regulations expected of government employees.

According to initial reports, the altercation occurred after the vehicles of Flores and the TNVS driver reportedly collided along the northbound lane of EDSA shortly after 11 p.m. on June 12.

Authorities said Flores allegedly threatened the driver and displayed a 9mm firearm during the confrontation.

Police officers immediately responded to the scene and arrested Flores following the incident.

“The law must be enforced equally on everyone, regardless of their position or the agency they belong to,” Calinisan said.

The suspect remains under the custody of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) while authorities prepare the filing of the appropriate charges against him.
